How to Describe a Dinosaur

Expert Author Pamella Neely

There are a lot of unlike kinds of dinosaurs, and so information technology is difficult to give specific steps for all of them in just one article. Simply the most recognizable dinosaur is a brontosaurus, with its long serpent-like cervix and petty caput and large, elephant-like body. Then allow'southward starting time there.

If you lot really simplify the image of the brontosaurus, information technology is basically one-half serpent and one-half elephant. The meridian part is the snake, with its small round head and long curving cervix that flow into the big hump of its shoulders and and so all the manner down its dorsum, past its back legs and so finish with a tapering curve into the stop of its tail. The bottom part is elephant, with iv thick, somewhat curt legs that end without any long toes or hooves, of annihilation, just short flat feet.

Nosotros desire to beginning with ane long line for the snake part of this drawing. It is best to start at the tip of the brontosaurus's nose, so yous tin can take more than control over how yous shape the head when you lot depict the line that will create his chin and lower neck. So put your pencil down on the far right side of your paper and depict a little curve up to create his head. At present slope the line down to create the top function of his cervix. You lot are now basically following the line of his spine as you pull your pencil down, creating the top of his neck.

When you get virtually four to five lengths of his head down, pull your pencil more left to create the hump of his shoulder, and then down once more at about a 45 degree angle to create his back. Brontosaurus's shoulders are much higher than their hips, or hindquarters, then your pencil needs to continue down and to the left at an angle to make the function of his back between his shoulder and his hindquarters. You tin can make a little hump to evidence his hip bones. Later on that, as you laissez passer the hips of your brontosaurus, you are now on to the tail. Nearly people like to draw a big sweeping bend to represent the tail, simply if you want your brontosaurus's tail to exist straight, that's okay too. Brand the tail about one-half the length of the rest of your dinosaur.

Now that you've finished the tail, you pick your pencil up and get back to the dinosaur's nose. You are now going to draw the bottom one-half of him, the part that looks like an elephant.

Pull your pencil to the left from the tip of his nose, making a slight bend down to correspond the lesser half of his head and his jaw, then do a little, tiny curve upwards to show where his throat stars. From in that location, curve downward to follow the aforementioned path as your height line, gradually making the space between the two lines wider. Every bit you reach where his shoulder would exist, yous want the infinite between the 2 lines to get much larger, then much so that your pencil may demand to go almost straight down. You are now creating his get-go leg. His first leg should exist out in forepart of his other front leg so you can describe them equally a squeamish, easily understandable silhouette. Brontosaurus' feet are pretty easy; but make them finish in square shapes, and proceed the legs the same thickness because brontosaurus'due south legs don't really taper at whatsoever part.

Exercise the same thing with the back legs as you did with the front legs in terms of putting one leg in front of the other. Or you can make one leg be behind the other by having the back leg stick out a bit. Then pull your pencil up later you've fabricated the further dorsum leg and start the lesser part of the tail, slowly tapering it out until you lot achieve the cease and connect your bottom line to the pinnacle line you made before. You've just finished your first drawing of a dinosaur!
