Loyal customers are the backbone of any business. In the past, face-to-face interaction was always the main way business owners built quality, long-term relationships with their customers. With the continual evolution of the internet, business owners often struggle to translate their in-person success to online success in building a loyal fanbase.

Here are 3 simple tips that can help you cultivate more meaningful relationships with your customers online!

1. Be as transparent as possible

Customers are looking to spend money at businesses who share their same values. If your business has a mission statement, brand guidelines, or unique processes that reflect your values, highlight these on your social pages. If you're a local business, you can even share charity efforts or community events that you support!

Customers want to feel appreciated. Think about how you can use social media to look out for your customers and provide them with some sort of unexpected value. Maybe you can offer them exclusive social media deals or hold a simple giveaway. If you have any branded hats, coffee mugs, or shirts you can use those in contests too!

You can also add value to your customer's life by providing a more convenient purchase experience for them. Set up a chatbot, check your messages regularly and address any customer concerns as soon as possible and your customers will keep coming back to your platforms.

3. Provide an outlet for feedback

Great relationships are built on great communication. Your customers want to feel understood and have their questions answered promptly. With more customers looking for digital ways to communicate, there is an expectation of quick responses.

Acknowledge any direct feedback on your products or services respectfully and say thank you! Even if your business hasn't lived up to your customer's expectations, owning up to a mistake or making the effort to make it right goes a long way in earning trust from other customers. You can also use customer feedback to improve your current offerings so keep all your avenues of communication as open as possible!
